The Franklin Register has a nice article about our pellets. We have discovered that our pellets have many more uses than just fuel. In fact, they are a gardeners best friend! With Spring here we are all thinking about our gardens and the fresh air and sunshine. Well, Enviro Energy is thinking about that too:

Fall 2010 Update

Another heating season is upon us. We’ve had a busy summer. After making grass pellets for a couple of years, we felt that some changes would make our mill more efficient. We have been working on our equipment, from the grinding of the hay through the delivery of the pellets to the bin. We have also made big improvements in our dust control system.
We’ve been very pleased with farmer’s response to bringing us the low moisture, weedy material that we need to make a good heating pellet.
We also are going to be experimenting with canola and soybean stubble.
We are working with Dr. Cherney at Cornell University, assisting him in his study of different kinds of cellulose; from soil sampling through the burn and stack emissions. Click here to see our original post about this.

In her garden, May is excited to be using the grass pellets to mix with our heavy soil. Since the weed seeds have been heated out in the processing; we have been sprinkling a few around flowers and the pellets expand about 4 times into great mulch, as they absorb moisture.
Not to be outdone, Mike laid his seed potatoes out in a row and poured on grass pellets, threw a little straw over them and easily uncovered and picked up a nice crop of potatoes this fall.
Our grass pellets are still selling at $225.00/ton or $4.50/40# bag.
We are making kiln dried pine pellets for horse bedding. Cat owners and animal shelters have discovered them and are using them for an all natural, compost able cat litter. These also sell at $225.00/ton or $4.50/40# bag.
We are still carrying the excellent quality Curran wood pellets, manufactured in N.Y. State , for the owners of stoves that have difficulty with the extra ash of grass pellets. These are lab and customer tested to be the lowest ash, highest BTU pellet available in the area. Selling for $ 250.00/ton or $5.00/40# bag.
Please notice that all our pellets are the same price by the ton/bag.
The Catskill Grass Bio-Energy Project

Enviro Energy LLC is pleased to support, and participate in, the Catskill Grass Bio-Energy Project, formerly known as the Delaware County Grass Bio-Energy Project, developed by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County in partnership with the Catskill Watershed Corporation, the Delaware County Department of Economic Development, and Cornell University.
In an effort facilitate the development of a local grass bio-energy system, this distinguished group is developing a “production to consumption” grass bio-energy pilot project. The basics of this program are as follows:
- To work with farmers to produce and test grass biomass feedstock suitable for combustion purposes. This is not hard, but requires some different management techniques.
- To work with local grass biomass processors, in particular EnviroEnergy LLC of Franklin NY to produce and test grass biomass pellets
- To test and demonstrate bulk delivery and on site handling of grass pellets
- To install, research, and demonstrate residential and small business/municipality scale combustion technologies (pellet stoves and outdoor boilers) that are known to work with grass pellets. This will include a variety of technologies as they emerge in the next 3 years.

Fresh Pellets drop into the Finishing Machine
Enviro Energy LLC was featured in an article titled “Area homeowners turn to energy alternatives” in October 10th’s edition of the Daily Star.
‘Basically, we buy overgrown fields. We particularly like goldenrod. We buy this from the farmers,’ May Miller said. ‘It gives them a little niche market for crops they couldn’t sell before. They bring it right to us.’
The crops are then converted into grass pellets, which can be burned in pellet stoves. According to the Millers, the stoves are very “green” in addition to being cost-efficient…”

Manufacturing & Office Building UP!

We are excited to announce that our 4,000 sq. ft. building on NYS Rt. 7 in Wells Bride is up!
The concrete floor is being poured today, and the manufacturing equipment is being moved.
We anticipate being able to accept round baled hay or large square bales at our Wells Bridge, New York site after August 18, 2008, and plan on having wood and grass pellets for sale at our Wells Bridge facility by Sept/Oct 2008.
