In medieval times, villagers threw corn in to ponds as part of ceremonies and rituals to ensure the purity of the village water. In the last few centuries, Barley straw has been used to promote clear, clean water conditions in ponds, ditches and streams.

Have you ever seen bales of straw stacked up where the water flow to pond or stream is, and wondered why they are there? The answer may be for erosion control; but more likely to control the quality of the water. When the straw begins to break down, it releases enzymes that promote naturally healthy water conditions.

Barley straw in particular has been found to be a more effective than other straws such as maize, linseed, and wheat, and the use of barley straw will not harm plant life or fish, except where too much barley straw is used in too small an area of water. This is because Barley Straw Pellets are environmentally-responsible as they are natural and chemical free.

We at Enviro Energy LLC are excited to work with landowners and farmers in our area to bring our pellets to market! We can work together by purchasing a product that may be growing right out your door. Enviro Energy needs very poor quality, AUGUST cut hay! Weeds, briars, and small brush actually make your hay better for us. If it gets rained on, so much the better. The hay should be dry enough when it is baled, to store without molding, just like any other baled hay.

Finding barley straw bales, is impossible. These pellets are a great alternative and they work fast.

Before handling the Enviro Soil Enhance pellets for resale, I requested a sample to be certain no goldenrod or other "nasty" weed seeds would germinate. Needless to say I am now carrying your product.

We've had a seminar series going on campus this spring, talking about bioenergy production on all the idle marginal lands in NY, which is something that has been ignored far too long. More than once I've mentioned what you've talked about at the ABIG meetings, pelletizing goldenrod and multiflora rose and anything else that's been growing. Grass pellets have almost the same BTUs per pound as wood pellets, without ever cutting a tree. Grass crops grown for fuel are not harvested until August. Woody, mature stems make the best pellets. Cutting this late in the summer virtually eliminates wildlife damage as song birds and turkeys are through nesting and fawns are up and away. This permanent sod cover is excellent erosion control and maintains the combination of woods and green open space that makes this area so desirable to wildlife and humans alike.
